Known for his “guttural voice (that) bears a captivating, rustic quality,” (The Northeast Performer) Tim Gearan was raised in New York, yet is lovingly claimed by the legendary Boston music community, where he has been playing music for over 25 years.
Gearan is regularly sought after by countless musicians for his uninhibited, soulful guitar playing, creative soaring abilities. and song writing collaborations.
After 10 years of touring nationally and abroad as a sideman guitarist for Toni Lynn Washington, Gearan has been performing his own music with a remarkable band of Boston MVPs almost exclusively, occasionally stripping down his songs at several listening rooms to a full house.
To say Gearan’s fans are loyal and adoring is an understatement; his cast of ever expanding and long-time followers show their devotion by showing up to his weekly residencies week after week. "Tim’s songs are near enough to the source of things that any player wants to get near them, it's like a watering hole, just a natural phenomenon; it's where the critters gather." (songwriter/collaborator, Peter Mulvey)”
And gather they do. Music lovers and Boston’s most prestigious musicians have packed Gearan’s weekly residency at Atwood’s Tavern, a musician-favorite venue in Cambridge, Friday after Friday for years and counting. For 11 years before that, he packed a Monday night residency at the famed Toad in Cambridge.
These days, you can catch Tim playing with some the best musicians Boston has to offer, every 1st and 3rd Friday nights of the month, at Atwood's Tavern in Cambridge, MA. Tim's residency at Atwood's was awarded the Boston Music Award's Best Ongoing Live Residency in 2012, and has had several nominations since then. He continues to play guitar with one of his favorite bands, The White Owls every Blue Monday at Toad in Cambridge and is currently sharing harmonies and song swap with Christian McNiel at Sally O’Brien’s in Somerville, which is quickly becoming a music fan favorite take. Gearan continues to collaborate with an amazement of artists in Boston and beyond.
Tim is very excited to release his new album “I Thought You Were Somebody Else,” his 7th self released album. This is a collection of 11 songs with a rock-pop feel, produced by pal and super producer, Dave Westner. Be on the lookout for that in June. “I Thought You Were Somebody Else” and Gearan's entire discography can be found at www.CDBaby.com., as well as iTunes and anywhere you buy your music from!
